Description

Osaka Golf Club is located in Misaki Town, Osaka Prefecture. It is 14 km from Senan IC of the Hanwa Expressway. In 1937, the course was established by 6 volunteers. It is total 6,700 yards par 72 championship course and it is located on the seaside with about 800,000 square meters. The course was designed by Osamu Ueda who had just returned from Europe at the time. The course was opened in 1938. Osaka Golf Club is the only seaside championship course in Kansai region as well as Kawana, Fuji Course in Kanto region. It became famous as one of the most difficult course in Japan, and the Kansai Professional Golf Championship was held in 1939. Because of the Pacific War, the course was closed from 1944 to the end of the war. Construction for the resumption began in 1952 and the course was opened in October of the same year with only 9 holes. The remaining 9 holes were completed in 1953.

As the seaside course is affected by the sea breeze, it is essential to select an appropriate club. The 3rd hole of the OUT course is 446 yards par-4 and it is downhill towards the sea. The aim point at the teeing shot is the little left side on the fairway. As there is a deep double-tired green, the distance is very important at the second shot. The 7th hole is 396 yard par-4 towards the sea. It is par-4 but it is better to aim to get on the green in three shot. From the second shot, it is important to select the club according to the strength of the wind. The IN course has 3 par-3 holes and 3 par-5 holes. Especially, the par-3 holes are difficult because it strongly affected by the wind. The 14th 145 yards par-3 hole is directly affected by the sea breeze. It should be careful as the ball tends to bend to the left. The 16th hole is 176 yards par-3. As the sea breeze affects more than you feel, you should select the club carefully not to go beyond the green. The 18th 156 yards par-3 hole has the Allison Bunker that surrounds the green. It is effective to choose the bigger club than usual and to swing relaxed.
